How to break free from career stagnation and build momentum for growth.

Dear Reader,

Welcome to this week’s edition of Career Catalyst.

"The future depends on what we do in the present."
— Mahatma Gandhi

Feeling stuck in your career? Do you feel like time is passing, and you don't have enough to show for it?

It’s a common experience. You’re putting in the work, but things just aren’t moving forward.

Maybe you’ve hit a plateau or can’t seem to find the spark you once had.

Here’s the good news: you don’t have to put up with this.

In this week’s newsletter, we’ll introduce a simple approach  that can help you break free from that feeling of stagnation: the 90-Day Sprint.

By committing to a focused, goal-oriented 90-Day sprint, you can regain clarity, drive, and a sense of accomplishment — all in just three months.

What is the 90-Day Sprint?

A 90-Day Sprint is a focused effort to achieve a specific, measurable goal in just three months. The beauty of a 90-day sprint is that it’s short enough to maintain momentum, but long enough to make significant progress.

It’s about breaking down your larger goals into bite-sized chunks, and dedicating yourself to achieving something tangible by the end of the sprint.

You will be able to achieve something significant.

Why it Works

There are three key reasons why this works.

1. Focused Energy

A 90-day sprint forces you to focus on one or two key goals. You eliminate distractions and get laser-focused on the outcomes that matter most for your career growth.

2. Sense of Accomplishment

At the end of 90 days, you’ll have something concrete to show for your efforts. The sense of accomplishment boosts your confidence and creates momentum for the next phase of your career.

3. Increased Visibility

The action you take during this sprint won’t go unnoticed. By actively pursuing goals, you create opportunities to demonstrate your value to others — your team, your boss, or your peers.

How to Start Your 90-Day Sprint

1. Define a Clear Goal

What do you want to achieve in the next 90 days? It could be:

  • Securing a promotion
  • Leading a high-visibility project
  • Mastering a new skill or certification
  • Expanding your professional network
  • Publishing an article

Make sure your goal is specific and measureable.

2. Break It Down

Break that big goal into smaller, actionable steps. Each week, you should have clear actions to take that will bring you closer to your goal.

3. Build in Accountability

Set up regular check-ins with yourself or a mentor. Track your progress, and don’t be afraid to adjust as needed.

Don't skip this step - it will keep you on track.

4. Celebrate Small Wins

Remember that every step forward counts. Celebrate milestones along the way, whether that’s completing a course or finishing a significant project phase.

Start Your 90-Day Sprint Today

Take 10 minutes today to identify the goal you’d like to achieve in the next 90 days.

Then write it down, break it into manageable tasks, and set a date for your first check-in.

This small step can start the momentum you need to get unstuck and accelerate your career growth.

If you require help with your 90-day sprint or want personalized advice on goal setting, reply to this email. I’m here to support you.

Please let me know how it goes!

Best wishes, Stephen
